Abstract

Mangkukan leaf (Nothopanax scutellarium Merr.) is a plant that is efficacious as traditional medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in the fraction of mangkukan leaf (Nothopanax scutellarium Merr.) and to determine the LC50 value and the concentration of the fraction of the leaves of Maretnella (Nothopanax scutellarium Merr.) which were the most effective in killing Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae. The research method starts from the extraction stage with the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent which is then fractionated using three variations of solvents based on the level of polarity, namely n-hexane (non-polar), ethyl acetate (semi-polar), and water-ethanol (polar). Then the phytochemical compounds were screened and the concentration series 0, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800 of each fraction were made for cytotoxic testing of Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae using the BSLT method. The results of phytochemical screening carried out on the leaves of the Mangkukan (Nothopanax scutellarium Merr.) found compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. The results of the cytotoxic test showed that the LC50 value for the ethanol-air fraction was 268.18ppm while the LC50 for the ethyl acetate fraction was 126.64 ppm and for the N-hexane fraction was 162.06 ppm. The conclusion is that the three fractions are toxic
